Caitlin & Nik - Delancey Our Lady Star of the Sea & The Peninsula Hotel

Just where to start with this lively wedding! What a day and what characters!

Caitlin’s dad waited patiently outside the room until she was ready, but his reaction says it all!

Caitlin_Nik005.jpg
Caitlin_Nik006.jpg

Hold on tight…!

Father Inna conducted a really beautiful and emotional ceremony at Delancey Church.

The reception was held at The Peninsula Hotel, with the meal inside the Tipi. Flowers for the day were by Emily, one of the bridesmaids, a labour of love that was much appreciated.

Speeches were quite hilarious, but also very touching with a connection online to those who were unable to be present.

Plenty of fun activity in the early evening.

People seemed to have energy left for the dacing. Matt Bonnerville and The Cage Shakers were great, 50s rock kept the floor packed all night.

Congratulations to Caitlin & Nik!

Rachel & Nathan - The Peninsula Hotel

Rachel & Nathan had a beautiful, relaxed wedding at The Peninsula. Thankfully the previous day’s gale had subsided overnight and the outdoor ceremony took place under attractive skies and little wind.

Caryn from White Dove conducted the lovely ceremony.

After some family group pictures we took a little walk to Port Grat beach, all very conveniently located a short stroll away.

The Peninsula dining room was beautifully decorated. Speeches were kept short, but very meaningful.

As the evening approached we had some great llight for some sunset pictures either side of the first dance.

Wishing you all the best for your future together.

Amy & Richard - Icart Headland & La Frégate Hotel

What a delightfully intimate wedding Amy & Richard had at Icart. Some of Guernsey’s best scenery was showcased in dramatic lighting.

Amy got ready at La Frégate Hotel where the reception was to be held. Everyone was watching the weather closely, but it seemed we would just make it before the forecast thunderstorms!

Amy walked to the ceremony location along the cliff path with her mum. The scene looked quite stunning, though the sky looked ominous in some directions, with some rumbles of thunder! Jackie from White Dove performed this lovely cliff-top ceremony.

The wind was pretty strong, but we were perfectly sheltered from the easterly breeze, but Amy’s veil stood upright and then sailed up, up and away! In this picture it seems only Richard and myself seem to have noticed this immediately!

A handfasting was part of the ceremony, producing a beautifully coloured knot.

Blue skies one direction, but absolutely dramatic skies the other! After the family groups we took some pictures just of Amy & Richard, we stayed close to the car park as we knew we didn’t have much time. Luckily, enough time to capture some totally dramatic scenes, before retiring to La Frégate in heavy rain and thunder for the reception.

At the hotel the Orangerie was the perfect place for this intimate wedding. Great speeches, some via the internet which worked out realy well. Great to be able to connect in this way with those unable to attend.

What a beautiful day. Wishing you all the very best for the future.

Megan & Charlie - The Farmhouse Hotel

Megan and Charlie had a wonderful wedding day recently. Everything was based at The Farmhouse, getting ready, the ceremony and the reception.

There was quite a crowd in the room Megan got ready in! But lt was well in control with no problems being ready in time.

We were all watching the weather carefully, it was drizzly and grey, but forecast to clear before the early afternoon ceremony. However the call was made to hold the ceremony indoors, the right call as it turned out as the weather did not clear until after sunset! A lot of work for the staff, but the room was turned around very efficiently.

Jayne from White Dove conducted the ceremony.

The drinks reception was inside, but we managed to do the family group shots outside. Again the room was switched back to the dining room set up very smartly.

A few evening pictures outside before the evening festivities began.

A great day and all the best for your future together Megan & Charlie.

Elisha & Ben - Castel Church and a reception in Herm

What a spectacular day this was! Elisha & Ben got married at the Castel Church, then everyone made their way either on the Trident or a couple of private boats to Herm for the reception. Logistically tricky, but well planned and all went perfectly.

Elisha got ready with her bridesmaids at her parents’ house, all very relaxed and stress free.

The Castel Church was beautifully decorated with flowers and Rev. Scott Lamb, and his assistant Bev, conducted a lovely ceremony.

It looked like the rain was moving in as people gathered outside the church. The flower girl, Ruby, was undoubtedly one of the sweetest and most well behaved flower girls we have come across!

Elisha and Ben travelled to Herm on a small speedboat, no problem out-running the rain on the fastest trip I have ever had to Herm! Tricky to take pictures at approaching 50kts, but certainly a dramatic scene.

The marquee was beautifully decorated, the cake was was quite exquisite with finely crafted details. Obviously a huge amount of work had gone into the nautical themed decor, someone must have developed sore fingers tying all those monkey fist knots!

Everyone had drinks in the White House Hotel conservatory before being called in for some very entertaining speeches. The rain became very heavy for virtually the rest of the day, but everyone was nice and snug in the marquee.

Cool Beans were the band for the night, what an excellent job they did. But then anyone who plays Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix as part of their wedding song list is going to be recommended by me!

To end off the day before the ferry ride back to St. Peter Port we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display! Some low cloud and rain certainly didn’t harm, just made it all appear more atmospheric.

All the best for your future together Elisha & Ben, what a great wedding!

Laura & Callum

This was one of the smallest weddings we have ever done, also one of the sweetest! I am more than happy to cover weddings whatever length they may be, whether a couple of hours or a couple of days.

Laura and Callum got married at the Greffe and afterwards we just strolled up to Candie Gardens for a few pictures. It was the couple themselves, their lovely daughter Louisa, plus two friends as witnesses.

All very intimate and a delightful wedding that we felt privileged to cover.

Daisy & David - a Herm Island Wedding

Daisy & David had the perfect day in Herm for their wedding. A grey morning gave way to deep blue skies, just right for the beach party later in the day!

While the bride and bridesmaids got ready at Harbour Cottage, the groomsmen were getting ready just across the road. There was a great display of skilled shirt ironing!

The ceremony site looked pretty as the sun came out. Michel with his accordian added a nice touch with his music.

Gary Vaudin conducted a lovely ceremony and Poppy, the couple’s daughter, proudly handed over their rings during the ceremony.

After the ceremony it was time to enjoy a drinks reception on the lawn outside the White House Hotel. Then we took some family photographs before the meal inside the hotel.

Speeches were undoubtedly some of the most touching and emotional I have photographed at a wedding. It was a wonderful surprise to connect with a couple of friends unable to attend who would have been best men.

After the meal we went for a few pictures, no shortage of scenic opportunities in Herm!

Then it was time to hit the beach for the evening party! Some went swimming and there was lots of relaxed fun that continued well past sunset.

Congratulations Daisy & David, I am sure the day was everything you wished it to be.

Rebecca & Charlie - Port Grat and The Peninsula Hotel

Incredible and action packed is a good way to describe the day that Rebecca & Charlie had.

Perfect weather meant Plan A could go ahead with a ceremony conducted by White Dove on the beach at Port Grat. The groomsmen were very busy all morning setting up the ceremony site.

Rebecca got ready with her eight bridesmaids at The Peninsula, just a short stroll over the grass brought them to the beach for the ceremony.

Charlie and his groomsmen certainly had a lot to do, but the details were well worth the effort.

What a splendid scene and beautiful ceremony, with humour and emotion.

We didn’t have to go far for scenic pictures, we took a stroll around the headland with Rebecca & Charlie, finishing up at the hotel where the guests were waiting with the confetti!

People had a great time outside before the call in, the dining room was decorated beautifully. Ian, the groom’s dad, was master of ceremony, he worked everyone up to expect some great speeches - expectations were high, luckily the speeches didn’t disappoint!

A beautiful sunset rounded off the day.

If I said that at night the day really got going you will know what I mean! One of the wildest weddings I have photographed? Quite possibly the wildest!

Stoked were the band - a little while since I had heard them, but they were absolutely awesome!

Rebecca_Charlie 025.jpg

Stoked, you more than made this young man’s day, no air guitar here - the band actually handed over one of their instruments! Undoubtedly one of the highlights of the wedding.

Rebecca_Charlie 026.jpg

The night continued with frenzied activity right to the end. What a party! Congratulations Rebecca & Charlie!

Rebecca & Paul - Herm Island Wedding

It is always special to go over to Herm, for a wedding especially so.

An early start was necessary, Uncle Paul in his boat took the hair and make-up ladies and myself before the first scheduled ferry. Becki was getting ready at the White House Hotel and the room was rather busy as everyone got ready for the 11:30am ceremony.

Karen, my wife and assistant, photographed the groomsmen getting ready before they walked up the hill to St. Tugual’s Chapel.

The rain came down quite heavily, but of course it’s lucky to have rain on your wedding day! It is fair to say St. Tugual’s Chapel was packed to capacity, Rev. Peter Graysmith conducted a beautiful ceremony.

The rain had virtually stopped as everyone exited the church, a big line of guests for the confetti! Then we took a trip to a couple of scenic spots for some pictures before re-joining the guests at the marquee.

Family group pictures were next on the schedule, before the call to the beautifully decorated marquee. Speeches followed the food and were a good laugh, especially with three best men!

By now the sun was warm and the skies were blue.

After the first dance we enjoyed a few quick sunset pictures before it was back to Last of the Light Brigade entertaining everyone. There was some frantic dancing to the great music. What a wonderful wedding day, best wishes to Becki & Paul.

Kerri & Thomas - Fermain Valley Hotel

If ever there was a more apt event for the saying “small is beautiful” then this wedding certainly ranks right up there. Kerri & Thomas had such a lovely, intimate wedding set amongst the lush, green, Fermain Valley.

Jackie from White Dove conducted the ceremony, the only intrusion, if that can be termed an intrusion, was bird song.

Perfect weather greeted us all too.

Not much space added to the intimacy, but it was all that was needed for a dozen people.

Everyone was as keen as us to photograph the happy newly weds!

A lunch on the terrace followed. I am sure this was exactly the day they had wished for.

Gayla & Jake - Bella Luce Hotel

Another great wedding. Gayla & Jake had a nervous wait with the weather, the call being made to go ahead with the outdoor option just before the ceremony.

Gayla got ready at the Bella Luce, which was also the venue for the ceremony. Just a walk downstairs then, very convenient!

Jake had a lovely painting for his wedding gift, a space on the wall was all ready for it.

Showery clouds passed by and the setting looked stunning.

To put it simply, the speeches were hilarious!

Everyone made their way into the hotel from the marquee for the evening entertainment.

The Silverados were the band for the night, a great job they did too.

What a fabulous day, all the best for the future.

Petra & Edward - St. Matthew's Church & The Farmhouse Hotel

What a fantastic day, and what a treat for everyone to be allowed to get together to celebrate a wedding.

Petra_Edward001.jpg

Petra got ready with her two daughters, Indie & Tillie. A nice relaxed atmosphere and all on time.

It was crisp and sunny, with a pretty brisk wind. Petra was escorted up the aisle by her two nephews, a proud moment for them all. Rev. Scott Lamb conducted a lovely ceremony.

Some great scenes outside the church and lots of wind assisted confetti!

It was then straight to The Farmhouse for the reception. The dining room was spectacularly decorated, plus a very realistic log design cake!

I love trying to capture candid pictures of people, having a good laugh or a quiet moment while on baby duty!

Petra_Edward024.jpg

Before the first dance we took some lovely atmospheric pictures as the sun started to set.

Petra_Edward026.jpg

Episode 2 provided the entertainment for the night. An amazing performance from this band and I highly recommend them. Any band that has a Led Zeppelin number on their wedding playlist is off to a head start with me, but they really delivered too!

Petra_Edward027.jpg

The fun continued until late, with some very energetic dancing.

Petra_Edward028.jpg

Wishing you all the best Petra & Edward, a truly beautiful day.

Chloe & Ryan - St. Tugual's Chapel and The White House in Herm

Following the stormy weather that October has seen, I bet quite a few people were nervously watching the forecast leading up to this wedding, I was one of them!

However on the day there were few worries, the day was largely dry until an afternoon shower.

We met and had a lovely chat with the Rev. Peter Graysmith on the Trident going over to Herm. It was also a chance to meet Daniel and Jacques the musicians for the day, easy to spot with their equipment!

On arrival we dropped off some equipment at the marquee and made our way to the Chapel.

Chloe_Ryan001.jpg

St. Tugal’s Chapel is such a sweet place to get married in, compact but quite unique.

Chloe_Ryan002.jpg

Ryan soon turned up with his brother and best man, Kieran.

Emma & Barton - Les Camps Church & The Peninsula Hotel

Well, what a year it has been! Understandably not many weddings to write about! So it is great to be able to feature Emma & Barton’s fantastic wedding at Les Camps Methodist Church and The Peninsula Hotel.

A late change of plan saw Emma getting ready at her mum’s house, at least nearer my end of the island.

Emma_Barton-001.jpg

Emma looked stunning in her dress and she had even designed her own jewellery!

Emma_Barton-002.jpg

The sky was a beautiful blue outside Les Camps. Barton was in good spirits as everyone gathered for the wedding.

Marlo & Phil - St. Peter's Church & La Réunion

Another amazing wedding, September has been a busy month.

Marlo & Phil’s wedding brought people together from all over the world, with a strong Australian connection.

Marlo_Phil 018.jpg

After several days of richly coloured sunsets Marlo & Phil were faced with a cloudy evening, though this cloud had given us those dramatic skies earlier in the day. However with perfect timing a slight gap in the cloud treated us to a sunning sunset, we had to move quick, but the beach was just across the road. Well worth the effort.

Marlo_Phil 021.jpg

There were lots of opportunities for people to mingle and talk before a set of very amusing speeches.

The dancing was great, with people filling the floor until late. A very special day indeed.

Lauren & Emilie - The Greffe and Cobo Bay Hotel

Lauren and Emilie’s wedding was one of the most moving we have covered. The legalities were taken care of in a small event at the Greffe in the morning, with a full ceremony at the Cobo Bay Hotel with all their family members and friends later that afternoon.

Lauren Emily 001.jpg
Lauren Emily 002.jpg

There wasn’t much spare space in their hotel room as the brides got ready, there was a steady stream of people popping by.

Emilie’s brothers proved very useful, Stefan helped with the shoes while Oliver conducted the beautiful and touching ceremony.

Anna & Benji - The Farmhouse Hotel, Guernsey

Another beautifully photogenic wedding - Anna & Ben had both their ceremony and reception at The Farmhouse Hotel.

With eight bridesmaids, the morning was always going to be a busy affair!

Anna Ben 0001.jpg

While everyone did their make up, the various cats took it all in their stride…

Anna Ben 0002.jpg

Anna’s dress was stunning and drew gasps when she was first seen.

Anna Ben 0003.jpg
Anna Ben 0004.jpg

Ben and his groomsmen went early to The Farmhouse, to check on the set-up for the outdoor ceremony.

Anna Ben 0005.jpg

Michelle, from White Dove, conducted the ceremony, it was a beautiful occasion. Some lovely flowers, from Debbie of Silken Garden.

Candie Gardens is a special place for Anna & Ben, so after the family group pictures, we made our way there for a few photographs.

Anna Ben 0012.jpg

The following image is part of a panoramic that should work spectacularly as a double page spread in the album.

Anna Ben 0013.jpg

Back at the beautifully decorated Farmhouse, we were entertained by some great speeches.

An undoubted highlight of the day was the singing by a couple of Anna’s sisters. A very talented family.

Ashleigh & Jac - St. Saviours Church and a tipi at Pleinmont, Guernsey

Ashleigh & Jac had a wonderfully relaxed day for their wedding.

An early start saw the groomsmen enjoy a dip down at the Bathing Pools, a refreshing way to begin the day.

Ashleigh_Jac001.jpg

Back at Ashleigh’s parents’ house, the bride and bridesmaids arrived a little overdue from the hairdressers. But within half an hour they were ready to leave for the church!

Fresh from their swim, the guys were soon ready and taken to the church by Andy with his TourGuernsey landrover.

Rev’d. Tracy Charmley conducted a beautiful ceremony, there was lots of laughter and lovely moments.

After the ceremony, we stopped by the reservoir for some pictures before going to the reception site at Pleinmont, where the tipi (from Bonita Events) was sited with beautiful views over the west coast. There was plenty of entertainment and games laid out for the guests.

Speeches were great entertainment, lots of hilarious moments.

Ashleigh_Jac026.jpg

After the first dance we were treated to some great music and singing from Youthe, a very talented band.
The dance floor was packed throughout the rest of the night, with the inside of the tipi providing an atmospheric backdrop.

To finish off, my last pictures of the night were of the site with the stars of the milky way visible. A stunning and appropriate way to showcase the beauty of the location and fitting for such a wonderful wedding.

Elise & David - St. Peter's Church and A Hidden Marquee

Elise and David picked a beautiful day for their wedding, in fact it was almost too hot and we were thankful for the shaded site where their marquee was.

Elise got ready at her parents’ characterful farmhouse, it was a busy place!

Blog004 new A.jpg

Meanwhile David and his groomsmen got ready at the Imperial Hotel, their preparations even involved a bit of hair care for David!

The ceremony was held at St. Peter’s Church, a close and convenient location for everyone. Rev. Adrian Datta conducted the ceremony with great humour.

Blog007.jpg

Alice didn’t stay still for long, she was always on the move and determined to go where she wanted to…

Blog008.jpg

One of my favourite pctures from the day, a little moment after the signing of the register.

Blog014.jpg

We went straight to the reception after the church, a change to more practical footwear was a good idea.

Blog018 new.jpg

The marquee was so well hidden in the valley, you didn’t know it was there until you were right upon it. There had been a massive effort to prepare the site as well as decorate the interior and surroundings.

People had plenty of time to mingle and interact before the call in for speeches.

Speeches were very entertaining.

As night approached, Elise and David showed off their dancing skills.

Blog027.jpg

The site was beautifully atmospheric as night fell, David’s dad ensured the fire was kept well stoked up.

A great day in a quite unique venue, I am sure everyone thought all the hard work beforehand was well worhtwhile.

Amy & Ryan - Duke of Richmond Hotel

There was a sense of fun and informality for Amy & Ryan’s wedding. They did pop to the Greffe in the morning to get the legalities completed, but after that the rest of the day was based at the Duke of Richmond Hotel. This made things quite convenient for us to cover the preparations for both Amy and Ryan, the ceremony room and also the dining room before the guests started arriving.

Amy’s dress was stunning, one of the few short wedding dresses we have seen, it also had pockets! Only the second dress I can remember with pockets, both this year, the start of a trend?

Ryan and his groomsmen were thankful for Ryan’s dad, he expertly tied the cravats and adjusted the button holes perfectly.

Amy and Ryan005.jpg

The ceremony room was set up beautifully. Amy’s brother Ben, conducted the ceremony. He was so polished and professional it appeared he was an experienced hand at the task!

Amy and Ryan006.jpg

After the ceremony, everyone moved upstairs to the Leopard Bar. Amy and Ryan had an impromptu spin as they waited for people to follow up the stairs.

Amy and Ryan011.jpg
Amy and Ryan012.jpg

Before the call in for food we took some family pictures at Cambridge Park, the fine weather and autumnal conditions made for a lovely setting for the groups and also for a few pictures of Amy & Ryan.

Back in the hotel the dining room was waiting.

One of my favourite pictures of the day, as Hilario flung open the doors of the dining room to the newly announced couple. A photograph like this is a good example of whatever camera you have, autofocus and autoexposure just won’t get the job right, you have to take control yourself!

Amy and Ryan018.jpg

Speeches came first, an unconventional order with Amy’s mum starting, plus a speech from Amy’s bridesmaid Laura. Ryan’s brother, Adam, then was in a mischievious mood for his hilarious speech! Not only did he make fun of his brother, he didn’t spare the bride either!

What a beautiful cake!

An eagerly anticipated first dance saw Amy & Ryan dance to music from Stoked.

Stoked may be taking a break, they have been one of my favourite bands at weddings and always fill the floor with their enthusiastic playing. Best of luck guys with whatever you do in the future.

A final picture to finish off this blog, we took the opportunity to take some pictures outside at night. This one shows off Amy’s dress and shoes to great effect!

Amy and Ryan028.jpg
